Five: ’90s boy band member Abz Love reveals his return to UK group ahead of major announcement

Everybody get up – Abz Love has announced his unexpected return to British boy band Five (or 5ive) on social media, even surprising his own band mates.

The reveal came just days before of an expected reunion tour announcement from the ’90s group, who have been teasing a big announcement on February 27 across electronic billboards at UK bus stops and train stations over the past week.

“As of today I am once again a member of @itsfiveofficial . Thank you to all the fans who support us, I love you all,” the now 45-year-old wrote, in a post on X mirroring his departure announcement in August 2014.

Five band member Scott Robinson, 45, was the first to respond, expressing his apparent shock.

“Wow what a way to find this out,” he wrote followed by multiple rolling on the floor laughing emojis.

Sean Conlon, 43, was also left “cracking up over this” in response to the announcement.

But it was 45-year-old Ritchie Neville who hinted at plans to come, while still taking a little jab at his former bandmate.

“You really sure this time? That’s 4 out of 5 now…” Neville teased, alongside a rolling on the floor laughing emoji.

The group formed in 1997 with Conlon, Neville, Robinson, Abz and Jason “J” Brown, having hits such as Got the Feelin’, Everybody Get Up and Slam Dunk (Da Funk).

Their self-titled debut album went three times platinum in Australia, peaking at No.8 on the ARIA charts in 1998.

The group first went their separate ways in 2001 before coming back together without Conlon in 2006-2007 for an album and parting again.

Then, in 2012, they reformed without Brown, now 48, appearing on ITV show The Big Reunion in 2013.

Making an appearance on that reality show in a pre-taped interview, Brown revealed the bullying claims behind why he refused to rejoin the group.

It’s not known if he will be a part of the group’s big reveal this time around.
